3rd Trimester

We have a breech baby

We found out yesterday that our little man is in the Frank Breech position, which means he's basically in a pike position. So, maybe he's destined to be an olympic diver! The dr said they can try to turn him, but that the success rate is lower in first time moms because the uterine muscles are naturally tighter and harder to manipulate. He also said it's possible, but unlikely that he'll turn on his own. We'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks, but looks like we're having a scheduled C-Section...just another sign that we're not the ones in control here!

Re: We have a breech baby

  • I've posted this on some other breach posts so give these two things a try and see if they work:

Go swimming and roll around like a seal in circles. The motion is supposed to make baby turn head down.

Have DH squeez your pinky toes. Acupuncturists swear by this methode. There is some kind of pressure point in the toes that can also help baby turn.

    Good luck!

  • You have hope, my baby flipped from head down to breech at 35w4d. She'd been head down since 32 weeks! But you're right it's just another sign that we aren't in control of this!! Good luck mama.
  • Thanks for sharing the tips. It is still very early for me to be worrying about this but our LO is backwards and upside down from the ideal birthing position. A c-section is the absolute last resort option for me (no insurance so it would mean major long-term medican debt plus I'm hoping for a natural birthing experience) so I have been looking online for all kinds of exercises and positions to encourage her to move. I hadn't found these so thanks for sharing!
