    Every since that drunk guy stumbled into my apartment a couple of years ago, we keep the doors locked at all times.

    Now that we are in the 'burbs I`ll probably eventually stop locking the doors during the day so much, but I`m so used to living in the city that now it's just a habit.

    I always locked my doors in California. Here, not so much. DH says it's normal here.

    We keep them locked a lot because we go in and out of the garage, but there have been many times we have left the house with doors unlocked. I would not do that before I lived in this house.

    We have those doors that stay locked on the outside and unlocked on the inside unless you change it.  We never change it unless we go out for the mail or whatever.  We also have close neighbors as we live in a townhouse complex.

    I always lock my doors even when I let my dog out the back door for a quick potty break.  I also very rarely open the door when someone rings the bell.  I live in a very, very nice part of town in the burbs but I think I have watched one too many Forensic Files, Cold Case files and the such!  Better safe than sorry.  

    I also turn on my alarm every time I leave the house and at night.  DH travels a lot and we have a large house so it would be easy for a serial killer to be hiding some where in my house and I not know it :-)  that one was just for giggles!

    The only door that's not locked is the garage door but that's because the garage door is always closed.
