DS's ear got cut today :(

I had asked my MIL to help me give DS a haircut (ie, I help distract him while she cuts his hair). She's really good at giving little kids hair cuts. Except tonight, DS wouldn't be distracted. We got the bangs cut back so he could see, and she was working on the hair around his ear, when he jerked his head back right as she was snipping. It cut his ear.

We couldn't see it at first because, understandably, he wasn't letting us anywhere near his ear after that and it was bleeding a lot. We thought maybe he just got sliced. But nope, on closer inspection it almost cut a freaking chunk off of his little ear. The two pieces are laying back together, and I know from my own ear injury as a kid, that if left alone, they will reconnect and he will be fine. He seems fine now, and was running around and playing before bed time.

I feel like absolute shiit. Worst.Mom.Ever. I told DH about it and he said I am being melodramatic (I kept it together in front of DS, but I am teary right now). It just sucked to see my little guy get hurt like that, and I feel like it is my fault since I wanted his haircut.

Anyone else had this happen to them? How is your LO's ear now?
