Re: Spin class during 1st tri?

  • I'm still doing it.  Between like 8 and 12 weeks I started puking after I worked out so I had to take it easy, but now I can go at it again

  • The dr told me to keep my heartrate under 140 otherwise it takes blood from the baby. I've worn a heartrate monitor in the past and its around 155-165 during spinning so I had to opt out.
  • I did spin 1 or 2 times a week up until I was 36 weeks. And then I only stopped because I couldn't bend over to the handle bars and still breathe. I can't wait to get back to it!

  • I kept up with my running as long as I could.  Just don't take on anything new.  If you have never done spin classes and haven't hit the gym in months, I would say pass.  But if this is your routine, go for it!!  Relieves stress and makes you feel better  :)
  • I did it with both pregnancies, more with the first for scheduling reasons. I did it until about 37 weeks, when my belly was so low it was tough to pedal.

A lot of experts now think that the cardiovascular benefits of exercising outweigh any risks with getting your heartbeat above 140--because it's for short bursts. But ask your doctor.
