do you always loose a mucus plug?

I am just wondering if you always loose a mucus plug well before or even close before your water breaks?

    Nope, some people don't lose it, or at least never see it. And only about 10% of pregnant women have their water break at home during early labor.

    I don't know for sure...but I do know that not everyone will KNOW they lost their mucous plug, because sometimes it comes out very slowly over a period of days/weeks, and seems like normal discharge.  So not everyone realizes that it is happening.

    nope, and a lot of the time you don't lose it until you're well into active labor

    My OB told me yesterday that my water can break without me losing my mucus plug, or even being dilated.

    My water broke at 10:30am today, baby boy was here at 6:34pm and I never saw my mucus plug prior.
