? for Ladies on Mirena

Maybe this is a stupid question...  How soon can you have it removed in order to TTC?  I don't want to go back on the pill, but I'd like to start trying TTC #2 in about a year or so, and it seems like Mirena is a longer commitment than that.  Does anyone know?

    It can be removed whenever but can be expensive depending on your insurance. We're having mine removed in 1-2 years to try again. It cost me 60 bucks to get it. I don't know what the removal cost is. (The charge was $650 initially before insurance.)

    I got mine in December 2007 and had it removed in late January 2009.  I know someone who had it put in, then a couple months later changed her mind and decided to TTC and had it removed right away.

    Thanks, I'll have to see what my insurance covers.  Although it sounds like it's pretty comparable to a year of BCP, if not cheaper.

    One more dumb question - my PP visit is on Monday, can I just get it that day?  I seem to remember people mentioning something about being measured for it...

    i was told that the removal fee is included with insurance but they wont cover the 2nd mirena if you decide to get it out so early??? im not having anymore so it was a good choice for us.

    They put mine in that day. Took only a couple of minutes. They didn't know that was the route we were going either (so it wasn't like they planned for it).

    The last time I had it I went back a week after my 6 week check up to get it.

    My doc says I cant have it placed until the baby s two months old because it takes until then for everything to be completely and totally healed.

    You can have it removed at any time.  It just depends on how cost effective the timing is.  My out of pocket cost was $350 so even if I wanted to have more kids I would want to keep it for a couple of years to make it worth the initial money.

    This, My OB wouldn't do it before 8 wks PP. And I also have a friend who had her mirena removed just a few months after it was put in so she could TTC.  

    Miscarriage/D&E 10w6d 10/3/14 (baby's heart stopped beating)

    Ectopic Pregnancy discovered @ 10 weeks 5/6/14 (Lost right tube and ovary)
