DH's is now recovering from the surgery to repair his fractured femur. He'll definitely set off metal detectors if he ever flies again, but the rods and pins will allow him to walk unassisted and without a limp at some future time.
The surgery was longer and more involved than anticipated since the surgeon said it was one of the most extensive and complicated fractures he had ever seen. His recovery will not be pain free, but hopefully once he is cleared to start rehab he will begin the long road back to getting whole.
Again, my deepest thanks and appreciation for all of your prayers, good wishes and comfort.
Best wishes everyone for a happy, healthy, safe 2010 where your dreams come true, both baby related and otherwise.
Re: Surgery successful and Happy New Year
I'm so glad to hear this! Happy New Year to you and your DH as well.
Maybe they can give him some extra of the good drugs tonight?
so happy to hear that the surgery went well...
you may be relieved to know that surprisingly all of that hardware does NOT set off alarms at airports. My sister had a complicated leg repair this summer, and has been able to fly without a problem.

So glad to hear your DH's surgery went well. Praying that he has a quick recovery with minimal pain and that he is able to get to rehab soon. That will be an exciting day when he gets up and walks again. Praying that day arrives soon and praying that you can be a strong support system for him. The recovery will be a long road for both of but sending lots of prayers your way for the two of you.
