I normally lurk here and haven't been posting alot b/c I don't have kids yet. My name is Candice and I live in central Al and we are off BC now but not TTC until around May. My Dr told me to stop my BC now to give my body time to adjust without the BC before we were ready to start TTC. So I am thinking that I want to try charting to prevent until we are ready to start trying. So can ya'll maybe explain the whole charting thing to me I am very confused. Do I have to take temps or can I just go on a do it these days and not these days or what? TIA and look forward to making lots of new friends around here.
Re: Hi and help..
Hi and welcome! I do not chart but there are several helpful ladies here that do, they should be able to answer your questions.
I do know there is a book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" that is good, and I do know you should take temps daily at the same time of morning.
Hi and welcome! I highly recommend checking out www.fertilityfriend.com. They have a charting course you can go through that was really helpful to me.
Also, don't hesitate to ask here if you have charting questions. There are several ladies who have been charting for a long time and are more than willing to answer questions.
The easiest way to learn is to get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It is GREAT and it comes with a cd with software that will help you chart. Plus, we are also here with any questions....but starting with the book will be a great jump start to charting.
Good luck!
When I got pregnant, I quit BC at the end of December, and we didn't start trying until May. I didn't chart, but I did keep up with the dates I started each period on a calendar...that way I could be certain about the length of my cycles. When it came time TTC, I just used the ovulation calendar's on babycenter.com and thebump.com. You put in the date of your last period and how long your cycles last, and then it gives you the "best" dates to boogie.
It worked on the first try for us. I have also had three or four friends do the same thing and it also worked for them.
Good luck!
I'll go along with the others and say that TCOYF and Fertility Friend are great resources. I used Fertility Friend...all I had to do was take my temp first thing when I woke up before moving around and getting out of bed at the same time every morning and then input the information into fertilityfriend.com and it did the work for me. It also has this really helpful explanation tutorial on it.
Feel free to ask any questions here...we are an accepting group and there are a lot of knowledgeable and helpful ladies. Good luck!
