Cloth Diapers- Day One

Hi, I have twin girls almost 3 months.  My one daughter, Abrielle is finally big enough to fit into the cloth diapers I ordered and today is the first day (after all the prepping).  My question for other parents who CD- between the prefold and the diaper cover there is a lot of material and I am wondering if other parents notice that when the baby is laying on his or her back if there is a noticeable lump between the diaper and the baby's back.  Do you think it is uncomfortable?  Should i hold off on cds?  I just don't want her to be super uncomfortable when laying on her back.  What should i do?

Thanks!

Re: Cloth Diapers- Day One

  • My boys are in a combo of prefolds with covers, fitteds with covers, and Sposoeasy AIOs. While the prefolds seem a bit bulky, I don't think they have any discomfort. What size of prefolds are you using? We use the orange edge from green mountain diapers with a snappi and xs bummnis cover. My guys are 6lbs 10 oz and 7lb 1 oz right now and they work really well for us.

  • What fold are you using? That may be part of the issue (we use angel wing), but really, CDs are a bit bulky in general, so you will always see a bit of a lump.  If it makes you feel better, my DD has never had a problem or complained ...
  • She is in an orange edge prefold and and size small bummis cover, i have a snappi but didnt use it because I am not sure what to do with it ;)  She is almost 9 pounds so the xs cover would be too tiny.  Thank you for easing my concern about the lump... she doesn't seem uncomfortable i just thought that maybe she is and thought I would ask on here.
