I haven't started pumping yet, but I figure I should soon so that I have some stored up when I have to go back to work.
But when should I pump so that I have enough to still feed DS from the breast when he's hungry again? I've heard immediately after he eats is a good time to pump.
But am I supposed to pump until I can't get anymore or what? I can't see that as being a good idea since he could wake up hungry soon after. I just don't want to pump too much and not have enough to feed him when he's ready to nurse again.
Re: How much are you supposed to pump at a time and when?
if you feed about every 2 hours, pump about 1 hour after the feeding. For some reason I could never get myself to the pump before an hour after a feeding. And, an hour is plenty of time to "refill" before the next feeding.
