2nd Trimester

"Are you sure you're 16 weeks? You don't look that far along"

Um, I think I know how far along I am.

This is what someone just said to me at work. I guess I should be greatful, considering some of the comments girls have posted about. But, really, yeah, I know how far along I am. Thanks.

  • I know how you feel, but at least they didn't say:

"Are you sure your only 16 weeks?  It must be twins, then.."

I feel like that might be worse.

  • I have gotten the opposite, "are you sure your 17 weeks along? You look like you are more like 20 weeks".

    Thanks.

    People are so tactful.

  • At least your not getting....gosh your showing alot for 14 weeks aren't you? I guess I'm just a big fatty...thanks people. I guess they just don't think no matter how a pregnant women looks I always tell them their "little belly is cute". I have two large cyst and baby in here making me look farther along but really I don't want to go into all that with every person so I just say yep I guess you really do show more with number two! People are nuts!
  • That seems a lot nicer than what I usually get....oh your only 18 weeks....YOUR HUGE!  Your baby is going to be massive.  I'm like thanks guys I feel so much better now

  • This drives me crazy! At Christmas my cousin (who is 8 weeks pregnant and spent the entire night rubbing her "bloat baby") told everyone that I must be lying about how far along I am because she is showing more than I am. It was ridiculous.

  • Don't worry, that happened to me in the beginning. I didn't really pop until around 19-20 weeks and now I finally don't get those comments anymore.

  • When my V-Day came I posted it on my facebook.  The day next a co-worker said I saw your new due date is Valentine's Day.  I said no and she said oh with your size and everything I thought they moved up your due date.  That would be about 2 months!  It's amazing what people will say!
  • Maybe they were trying to give you a compliment....??? And really, 16 weeks isn't that far.  Most people aren't showing a ton at that time.  He/she was just being dumb, lol.

  • Ask them If they'd like to be your OB so they can correctly determine your due date.  Obviously medical school didn't properly train your Dr.

  • I get the same thing, only I am 18 weeks!  Some people still don't believe me.  I am definitely bigger--- just look like I gained some holiday weight I guess!

  • Geez, I swear some people are so ignorant about pregnancy.

Hi, Hello, not every woman will show the same way during the same week.  Every woman is different, just like every pregnancy is different. Do some light reading, or keep your stupid comments to yourself.

I didn't start really showing til 18 weeks, and this is my second baby!! I did have a tilted uterus in the beginning of this pregnancy for some reason, so all my friends are like, "are you sure you're even pregnant?? you barely have a belly"... I didn't even respond because it's such a stupid thing to say!

  • ppl are just annoying - its worse when youre pg. They lose all social filters around pg women & talk about your body as if its a separate entity. Drives me batty.

I get the same thing from my IL's.?

  • I'm pregnant with my first, but I started showing early.  My "favorite" comment was when a complete stranger asked me my due date, and followed with the question that EVERYONE asked me - are you having twins?  When I told her no, she said "well, I had twins and I had to ask because you are HUGE."  Seriously?
  • I got that throughout my last pregnancy, including from the labour and delivery nurse when I went in for my scheduled induction at 40 weeks. I was like, I know exactly how far I am and now give me drugs to get this baby out. One good thing of carrying small is last time I did not get any stretch marks despite gaining 58 pounds.

I get that a lot, especially since I lost so much weight.  "Are you SURE you're in your 2nd trimester?  Because you still look thinner than you did before you were pregnant"  I guess it could be worse.  They could be saying "Are you SURE you only have one baby in there?  You look much farther along"
