Travel system vs. Snap N Go

For those of us that have read through Baby Bargains its seems the Snap n Go vs. the travel system is the way to go. However eventually you need a stroller.

For those of us that would use the stroller for neighborshood walks and malls is the thought process from Baby Bargains and other moms is that the Snap n Go is light for lifting in/out of your trunk. Then after 6 months, get an umbrella stroller, that is also light?

I really like the Chicco Key Fit 30 travel system so I am unsure about the Snap n Go.

Re: Travel system vs. Snap N Go

  • Snap and Go is a better choice for me....the bulkier travel system stroller won't fit in my car.  I tried with my sisters because she had this same problem.  It is also a lot lighter and after 6 months an unbrella stroller will be fine for us...and really isn't going to put us out that much more money.

  • I thought about getting the snap and go instead of a travel system this time.....but then I thought back to how much I really enjoyed the larger stroller when DS was older.  It came in so handy - he could lay back, take a rest/nap, there was a spot for his sippy cup and snacks, ect.  Can't do that with an umbrella stroller.

  • I don't have a baby yet but I did by a Graco travel system and the Graco version of the snap and go.

My aunt paid for it as a gift so money was not an issue.

I know that the infant car seat will not hold a baby over 22 lbs but to be honest I didn't know about the infant car seats that hold up to 30 - 35 lbs.

I love the snap and go....its so light and easy to use.....I have a small civic and this will be great to have it in my trunk instead of the big stroller.

Although I love the stroller and will use it when I am with my DH I am planning on getting a light weight stroller as well so when I am by myself I won't have to hurt my back.

  • The snap & go was awesome but If I were to do it again with only 1 LO I would just get the City Mini and the car seat adapter.
  • and doesnt the baby trend snap & go fit the Chicco?
  • I have babybargains and have followed most of what they say. But I'm definitely going with the Chicco travel system. It has the best safety ratings and the reviews are nothing but good. The only problem people seem to have with it is when they a don't have a vehicle that it doesn't fit in. So I guess it comes to your personal choice.
  • My mom bought my brother and SIL a Bugaboo...so, the "me too" thought that that was what I was going to ask for...

That said, before I told my parents that I wanted one as well, I did lots and lots of research...

For our needs we are getting the Chicco KeyFit30 with the Cortina stroller...we will also get a BOB or similar for when we go on walks around trails and even the roads near us (most don't have great sidewalks - but, it's really quiet on the streets)...

If you a city dweller (my bro and SIL live in the East Village NYC) I think a fancier stroller is in order - but, a travel system for suburbanites, like me, seems to be something that's worth it...you can save about $150 if you go with the Snap-and-Go...but, you'll end up buying a stroller anyway...and from what I've seen with my friends with kids an umbrella stroller isn't ideal for longer outings (although some do recline fully)...

  • Since this is my first, my friends (with babies/older kids) have given me a lot of advice.  My one friend said the travel system is the better way to go because you don't have to take the baby out of the 'seat'.  She said when her son was a newborn the travel system saved her because her LO would normally fall asleep on the way to the store, etc.  and he would STAY asleep because she wasn't switching him to a stroller, just pulled out the car seat and he stayed happy!  Hopefully that makes sense, lol!  It was confusing to me at first, I still don't know what we're getting but i'm keeping that in mind

  • I think it does fit the SnG. But I do like the point about an older child being able to recline and take naps, have snacks on tray etc. with a regular stroller. I have a larger SUV so the trunk space isn't an issue for me.

  • I registered for both.  When I'm alone I'll use the snap and go because I'm really little and the big stroller is just too much for me to get in and out of the trunk.  But I like the big stroller too and DH preferred that one so we'll have both.

  • I got the Chicco Key Fit and registered for the Snap and Go. Mostly for traveling and convenience. My mom bought the travel system for us :) so perhaps someone will purchase the Snap and Go.
  • We have three strollers, a Snap n Go, a travel system, and an umbrella stroller.  We got the travel system first as a gift, and it works great in the neighborhood...really easy to push.  Now that we use it for DD as a regular stroller it's still great in that capacity.  It is awkward to get in and out of a vehicle, though, and hard to travel/fly with, so we got a Snap n Go when DD was little and an umbrella stroller when she outgrew that.

If you like the travel system, the stroller that comes with it does manuever better than the other two options and is more comfortable for LO when they hit toddler stage (DH in particular always catches his feet under the umbrella stroller and the Snap 'n Go, and DD is more comfortable in long walks in the travel system "cruiser" as wel call it).  It's not impossible to get in and out of the car, either, and it's "all you need".  But, if you are mostly going to be taking the stroller in the car, I'd get the other two.

You don't have to take the baby out of the seat with the snap n go either.  You keep them in the infant seat and it just *snaps* into the system...therefor you Snap n Go!

  • We got the Maxi-Cosi Foray.  It has a seat on the stroller that fully reclines and can be flipped around to face the other way, but the seat also comes off and you can pop the carseat on in case baby falls asleep in the car and you don't want to take her out of the carseat.  It was perfect for us because it's not as big and bulky as the travel systems, but it offers the same convenience and it drives WAY better.  I can steer that bad-boy with one hand.  We've only used it with my friend's daughter at the mall once when they were visiting, but we love it so far.  It's made by Quinny, but much cheaper.  :)

  • I thought Baby Bargains really pushed the snap and go thing.  My DH and I went to BRU this week to try them all out and I surprisingly loved the Chicco Cortina travel system.  The Cortina stroller is great, it has shock absorbers and big wheels...totally something I could use for years. I walk a lot and I want the baby to be comfortable when we are out which I don't think he would be in an umbrella.   Plus it is so simple to use.  Yes, it is a bit on the bigger side when it is folded up but I have a big trunk so not an issue.
  • We're doing the snap and go, and a Maclaren Techno XT for the "regular" stroller (its just a really nice umbrella stroller, and it fully reclines so you can use it right away).  We will also have a Jeep All-Terrain stroller for more rugged outings.  That has a snack/toy bar, etc. (the Maclaren doesn't).  Just remember that you don't have to have a full size travel system to get the benefits of a nice stroller after you're done with the snap and go.
  • I'm learning alot from you ladies!

Right now we're thinking of going with a Bob Revolution w/ adapter and Chicco Ketfit car seat. The upfront price is a little more but in the long run we'd save because we'd end up buying less strollers.

I've only read reviews about this combo online but none of my friends w/ kids have used it. That being said things may change.
