Hand sewing

I forgot how tedious it was.  Since DH isn't home today I'm working on finishing up the handmade stuff I didn't get to finish from our crazy night of taking DS to the ER.

Re: Hand sewing

  • OH it is tedious...and I'm hand sewing DD's christmas stocking. Which is not finished yet...oh and its got hand embroidery on it too.

  • Now that's a lost art!  Hand embroidery!  I'd have to find some major tutorials to do that.
  • compared to machine sewing, yes! But I was never very good at machine embroidery (and I don't see myself getting a fancy machine for it) so it's hand embroidery for any kind of embellishment I do. It brings me back to my school days where we made a sampler of all the stitches on Aida cloth... I just like looking at all the pretty floss colors!

I am so NOT crafty but I love to hand embroider.  Actually my mom came to visit and found this baby blanket I had started on for a friend in high school.  I never finished it.  I've been going wild all week working on it as it's really intricate.  I use the washable tailor's markers to do my designs and then basically trace with the embroidery thread.  When I'm finished I wash on gentle and my marker lines disappear.
