Copper IUD ?

Anyone have this?

I just ordered mine. Other than a vasectomy (which the hubs refuses to do), it's really our only option. I can't take the pill or patch because of the risk of blood clots.

Re: Copper IUD ?

  • Had the copper, got BFP.  But it worked great for almost 8 years.

  • I have it right now and so far so good.....
  • My suggestion is that you make sure that they test you for copper sensitivity a couple weeks before insertion. I've had a copper iud.
  • I have had it for 8 months, no problems.
  • I had to stop using the nuva ring because I got a blood clot. Was on lovenox throughout my entire pregnancy and for six weeks post-partum. I was surprised to learn that the mirena is an option for me! According to my specialist (an expert in thrombosis and pregnancy), it is only estrogen that could put me at greater risk for a clot. Are you sure that you need to go with the copper IUD and not the Mirena?
