I wanted to do something small for the kids that will be attending Abby's b-day party, but I'm at a loss. I don't really want to do candy or junky toys. I was thinking about a small book, but that was all I could come up with. Ideas?
I got a few things at the dollar store, but then when I went to party city to get a few more things (just for the party itself), they had a lot of favor type things that were just about as cheap as the dollar store. Cute things too. I had the bendy (crazy) straws, mini coloring books with 4 crayons, punch bag balls (you know, the balloony type ball things with the big rubberband attached to the end), plastic whistles, etc.

I love oriental trading and bought so much stuff from them. In the cupcake bags (her theme) I had bubbles, lil crayons w/ mini coloring books. A stick of rock candy, a lil paly-doh, a ball that lights up, a ring pop and a magnifying glass oh and a sticker lol

We did board books for the younger kids and then ge appropriate books for the older children. I also looked for things they were really in to. I got them all at the bargain books section at barnes and noble.
My daughter's 2nd is coming up, and I just ordered the goody bag stuff! I am getting animal masks, animal stickers, an animal beach ball, and a box of animal crackers. Everything except the crackers is from Oriental Trading.
you could do a felt cupcake for each kid, I think that's super cute. if you don't like that, you could do a real cupcake, one for each child packaged up cute. also, at ac moore (the craft store) they have really cute, inexpensive felt cupcake iron ons, you could give those as is or iron them onto a onesie or cheap tee shirt.
we didn't have a theme. we gave sippys and mini packs of gold fish.
Re: What were in your your goody bags for your LO's B-day?
Do you have a theme? Ours was an owl theme, and I got each of the little ones a mini owl. They were adorable and the kids loved them!

for dd first birthday her goody bags had bubbles, crayons, playdough and goldfish...for the really small kids I just gave goldfish and sippy cups.
for the 2nd birthday we are making snack bags with her favorite snacks...sour straws, snack packs, rice crispies, pringles and cookies.
