Hello,
I just got back from my FU to my D&C. My dr. did chromosonal testing on the baby and the results were an extra trisomy 16. He explained to me what Trisomy 21 was but didn't really give an explanation for 16. I tried to find an answer on the internet but all results were dr. lingo. Way over my head! If anyone knows anything about Trisomy 16 could you please help me out. He did say it was related to age but I am on 26 so...
Dr. didn't seem worried and told us we could start trying again in 1 month. Good news.
Thanks to anyone that can help!
Re: Chromosonal Testing Question?
Hi love. My third baby died due to Trisomy 16.
It is one of the most common causes of pregnancy loss, and from what they have determined, a non-inherited mutation. So it is highly unlikely you or your husband passed anything along. When the cells were dividing, something went wrong and this was the random and terrible result.
In terms of age, one's chances of Trisomy increase somewhat after 35. So that was not a factor here.
Bottom line: It sucks, it's random, and there is every reason to believe it will never happen to you again.
I hope that helps.
I just googled it and found this.. hope it helps..

THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
I appreciate your kind words. Definitely puts me at ease a bit. Although my dr. didn't say anything that scary, I left the appointment feeling worse then when I arrived. And let me say, sitting in the waiting room with all the happy woman brought me down!! I am so scared to get pregnant again. Please let this feeling go away.
