2nd Trimester

Happy freaking New Year

DH and I are headed up to the IL's for the weekend to do our Christmas with them.  It's a 5 hour drive which we'll start when DH is off work at 10 tonight.  And we woke up to 3" of snow today.  Greeaaaat.....

Anyways, DH's brother and sister will be there with their families as well which is great since all the kids are the same age.  His brother and sister live 45 minutes from their parents house and DH informs me since they're all staying as well, that DH, DD and I are sleeping on the floor with foamies in the spare room.

Call me a hormonal, whiny b*tch, but I think that's completely unnacceptable.  I told DH I'd either stay at home where I can sleep in a bed or we'd be renting a hotel in the city 45 minutes away (where his brother and sister live).

I'm starting to understand why people hate the holidays.

Re: Happy freaking New Year

  • I would definetly get the hotel room! Or do you have an air mattress you could bring?

  • If you're whiney, then I'm way worse! I would be furious! You're pregnant for crying out loud, and you're sleeping on the floor?!

    No way!

  • Umm...I think the brother and his family needs to suck it up and just stay at their house and make the drive in to see the family while you guys (who live 5x as far away) get to sleep on a real bed--not a foam thing on the floor.
  • Uh yeah, I'd be pissed.  We stayed two nights at my parents' at Christmas this year and they gave up their king-sized bed and big room for us (since I'm preggers and DD needed to sleep in the P&P).  The second night my grandma and grandpa stayed so my parents gave up the guest room (where they'd slept the night before) and slept on cots in the family room!  Sorry, but my parents are no spring chickens but they felt like that was what good hosts do!

You need to just get a hotel in the town where the BIL and SIL live...that'll make a statement to everyone anyway, since they couldn't even stay at their own home and then take the "good" bed at your IL's!

  • I would flat out say that I couldn't get on/off the floor and either stay home or get a hotel.  Uncool.
  • I sort of thought you were being pretty negative, but I can't excuse their selfishness.  To make the pg lady sleep on the floor so they don't have to drive 45 min?
  • No way. You're pregnant, no one should make you sleep on the floor!

Get a hotel room. You'll be comfortable, and maybe then they'll realize that they should have given you the bed in the first place and they can have the foamies!

This!  Or call up your BIL or MIL and say "I heard the joke about us sleeping on the foam mattresses!  Soo funny!  So what's really the sleeping arrangements?"
