I've just recently found out that the baby's placenta is laying on top of my fibroid. My doctors say they will just continue to monitor me closely but I'm freaking myself out right now and would love to hear from anyone who had a similar situation. Thanks.
Re: Fibroids while pregnant
Me too. I'm also being monitored to make sure the placenta continues to nourish LO and that it does not detach during pregnancy. The other fear is that it does detach completely during labor as it should. I understand your fear (since I have it, too).
I've had a rocky road with this fibroid. If you need to talk, feel free to email me. difeboe at gmail.com

Thanks so much for responding. I hear you about it being a rocky road! Do you know the size of your fibroid? Mine is about 8cm. Did your doctor tell you to avoid any certain activities? I'm trying to take it easy but fear I will be paranoid for the rest of the pregnancy. I'm at 18 weeks right now.
Thanks again-Michele
I also have a 8.5 cm fibroid....which seems SO big when my Dr compared it to the head of a full term baby. This is my second child, and with my first it was around 6 cm..and Im happy to say, no problems with that pregnancy or delivery.
So far with this one, all I know is the fibroid is (was) under the baby, so if that does not change we will have to deliever C section. I am only 14 weeks now though. On Christmas eve night, I think the baby and fibroid changed places. The baby was on the right side of my belly, and that next morning, after a lot of pain she was on my left. So, I guess I will see what the Dr says at our next apt.
Good luck! Will you have your fibroid removed after this pregnancy? I will be looking into some options after I deliver...darn things!
Mine has measured anywhere from 10-12 cm (depending on the u/s tech, etc). I had bleeding during 1st tri and this tri, I'm having tons of contractions. My OB said she things the fibroid is "irritating" my uterus! I can't exercise and we can't DTD.
Mine varies in size as well. I can't excerise and we can't DTD either, how sad is that! But I'd rather be safe. Sounds like you are being safe as well, I'm sure all will be fine. Have they given you any medication for the contractions?
Happy New Year to you!
