DH and I have the same group of friends...we all went to HS together. Unfortunately, they all had enough sanity to stay away from our hometown and the closest lives 3 hours away. I'm going to try to get all of them in town for a surprise b-day party for DH in April. We rarely all get together these days.
I just wanted to say how hard it is to make real "friends". I have several people that I do things with from time to time, but I dont really consider them good friends. Where I live it is SO hard to meet people (other couples specifically) that are about our age and have the same interests we do. I would love for us to meet a few couples that we could do stuff with!

I have a handful of close friends that live local...largely couples
and mostly met through DH (he's from Boston, I moved here after I met
him).
I have a lot of friends I keep up with from high school,
college etc....but I don't see them much. We talk less and less as
time goes by, but I know many of them will always be in my life in one
way or another....even if it's just sending Christmas cards or
congratulating one another on new babies and that sort of thing.
And a lot of acquaintences.

I definitely agree with this!
And I voted that I have some acquaintances, but no real friends.
There are a lot of people that I am friendly with and would consider them friends but not people I would share intimate information with. I have about 3 super close friends and 2-3 others that are up there that I feel really comfortable talking with.
I have a bunch of different sets of friends. My friends from home, a couple different groups of friends from college, a couple different groups of friends here, my soccer friends, my old crew team, etc.
