They're not that sharp, so I don't think I'd be too worried about scratching, etc. I have long natural nails and plan on cutting them back before LO is here, but that's because they're a lot thinner than acrylic and sharp.
My only concern would be having to maintain them once your LO gets here. The time factor alone would discourage me from getting them.
My mom raised five kids and never went without her nails. I think you'll be fine. It's not like they're sharp or dangerous. In fact, my real nails could do more damage.
Good to hear that others will be having nails. I guess I could keep them a little shorter and just be sure that they are well filed. DH fully supports me having them so I'm sure he wouldn't mind watching LO for me..

I've had mine on for over 10 years and have NO intention of taking them off. (otherwise I end up with little boy hands)
The only thing that concerns me is finding the time to get them done once the baby comes. I don't love the idea of bringing her to the salon with the odors but I see people do it all the time. It's just hard to sit there and let your nails dry when you have a crying baby next to you.
I guess this ones gonna be trial & error for most of us.
I have real (long) nails with acrylic over them and was told by the owner of the salon I use that I might want to consider 'active' length once LO arrives. I hadn't even thought of it but, as a parent, she said she think it'll be easier to maintain/attend to baby.
Otherwise I hadn't thought about it. I've had them for so long, I feel more awkward without them.
I do not. You might want to consider the bacteria that grows under the fake nails when handling LO. Grosses me out when I see a mom with fake nails reaching into LOs mouth to help with teething, etc.
i usu wear pink and white acrylics on the shorter side, but im taking a break. After years of working as a manicurist, you have no idea how dirty they can be,even if you are meticulous about keeping them clean. In NJ nurses are not allowed to have artificial nails, and im so glad!!!
