non dairy diet
anyone on here following a non dairy diet... my LO was just diagnosed with horrible Acid Reflux and the pedatrician mentioned that if he was not feeling better after a week on the meds to try and switch to a non dairy diet.

I was on one for about 8 months for DS while bfing until he turned about a year old and DH is on a permanent gluten free, dairy free diet. I tried to give up obvious sources only, and I saw some improvement, but I didn't see great improvement until I gave up all sources (including hidden sources).
It's not too bad--you just have to be conscious of what is on labels and prepare before you go out to eat. Parties usually stink because you can't read labels then. A lot of restaurants/fast food places have their allergen menu online. Some are better for dairy than others.
I ate a lot of oatmeal with rice milk substitute for breakfast. I didn't bother with a cheese or ice cream sub because it just didn't taste the same. (But most sorbet is ok). I cooked with the rice milk but never drank it outright. We do a lot of stir frys in my house--fish, meat, potatoes, veggies, rice.
Fleishmann's unsalted margarine is dairy free. Some dark chocolate is dairy free--for cravings I bought the raspberry chocolate bars from Target--in a pink package--I can't remember the brand.
Sorry for rambling--not sure if you were looking for advice or company.
I've been dairy-free since DS was 3 weeks old.
You get used to it, just like anything else.
