Telling the sex at 16 weeks?

When I went in for my 16 week appointment yesterday the dr. asked if I wanted to know what we were having. He did the ultrasound and had a bit of difficulty at first due to the umbilical cord being in the way but then determined it was a boy. He pointed out the parts and it sure looks that way. We'll have it confirmed at our 20 week appointment but I'm wondering if anyone else found out the sex at 16 weeks.

At 16 wks 1 day he told me it was a girl, 90% sure. She was being difficult but it was confirmed at 20 weeks. YEAH! YOU'RE TEAM BLUE!!!

I actually had my first ultrasound at 14w 4d just to confirm my conception dates and stuff (I saw a doctor late) the tech asked if wed be interested in knowing.. She said it was only a guess but it looked like a girl. The baby moved moments later and she couldnt get another shot. It was later confirmed at 18w that she is a girl after all. I googled it and a lot of people were told early just to have it confirmed.. And I believe at 16 you can see everything since all the parts are developed at 14weeks. So yeah youre probably team blue congrats!

It is my understanding that by the end of week 14 you can tell as the sex organs have migrated to the correct location.

At my doctor's office, it is the norm to do the second ultrasound at 16 weeks. So we have found out with both children then.

I did! Both times! and it was always confirmed at the 20 week as well

Yes, we found out early. And being told it's a girl because of an absence of penis is different from being told it's a girl from seeing girl parts.

15w5d with DD, and it was plain as day, not just "absence of boy parts" you could definitely she her girl parts.

15w1d with this one, WAAYYY obvious it's a boy, no mistaking it at all.

We found out at 15w4d. I would have been nervous if they were accurate but we saw the penis on the u/s. The dr said as early as 14 weeks they can usually tell.
