I am definately grateful that my cousin and aunt are throwing me a shower, but I am a little concerned that the date they chose may be a little late in the pregnancy. I am due April 1st and the date I was given is March 13th... which is ok if it were in town, but its in Toledo which is about 2 1/2 hours from my home.
Is this date too late in my pregnancy for traveling. This is my first child and I have had no problems so far and I don't believe I am at risk for any other issues (preclampsia, diabetes ect.)
Oppionions?
Re: Baby shower date concern...
Did they run the date by you first?
Have they sent out invitations?
If not, you have time to suggest an earlier date. You really aren't supposed to be traveling that far so close to your birth - just tell them that if there is still time to change and suggest they bump it up a few weeks.

Hello fellow Ohioan! I'm originally from the Toledo area myself.
To answer your question - I would just simply ask them if it is possible to do it in late February or earlier in March as 2 weeks before you due date is cutting it very close. You may not even be able to drive that distance at that point in time, and being 2 1/2 hours from your Dr. that late in your pregnancy isn't really a good idea (in my opinion).

I wouldn't be as worried about the travelling as I would be about potentially missing your shower because you went into early labor. They say with a first the DD could fluctuate 2 weeks either way and that puts the 13th right into the "danger zone" IMO.
I know I'm in close to the same boat as you (DD - 4/4) and my shower's looking to be 2/20. Even that close makes me nervous. Use the excuse that you want plenty of time to put together the nursery with all the gifts you receive BEFORE the baby's born. Hopefully, that convinces the hosts to bump the date, at least by a week or two, to give you more buffer. GL!
