I'm planning on getting a membership to one of these two, mainly to get diapers in bulk. In terms of location from me, they are the same, so I'm wondering if anyone has a preference, and why? TIA!

Re: Costco vs Sam's Club
This is the most convincing argument I've heard.
costco wipes are the best!!! it's a cleaner store and their bakery is yumm-o! the optical dept is SUPER cheap for glasses and the photos are cheap and well-colored. the debit card issue is a PITA though.
annnnd rush is a douche and i hate walmart.

I joined Costco two months ago and every time I have used my Visa at checkout.
We love costco, I think that the Kirkland store brand is great!
I'm a member of Costco, and I love it for lots of reasons (meat, paper products, clothes, drinks, random stuff) - but I don't like their diaper selection. They have Kirkland brand and Huggies. I only like Pampers, so I end up buying diapers from BRU or Diapers.com with coupons instead.
I know that Sams carries Pampers - and they might carry Huggies too? I'm not sure about that, but they do sell Pampers for sure.
This is good advice. You can get a day pass at each store, but I don't think you can actually buy anything without a membership. I prefer Sam's because I found their prices to be cheaper here.
My Chart
We used to be Sams members, b/c we were under my FIL's business membership. When he decided not to renew, we switched to Costco b/c it was closer to our house. There are things about Sams that I liked better (diapers, formula, not having to pay for the membership), but we are also happy with Costco. It seems like the store is cleaner and the employees are much more friendly (that kind of stuff goes a long way with me). I love when I get the book of coupons to Costco. It's like Christmas
Sams does have Pampers, Huggies, the store brand, and I think Luvs also. Costco only has Huggies and Kirkland.
we go to Costco. I like their clothes choices, esp for DS. I do not like the diapers, they have Huggies and their Kirkland brand. Kirkland is similar to Huggies Movers.....the price is not that great. You can get them cheaper at Target when they are one sale and have a coupon.
We do like the liquor dept for wine and gifts. The meat is good. The take n bake pizzas are probably our most frequent purchase.
I do know that our Sams has Pampers, which has made me consider it.....but it is 35 min away.
We go to Sam's. We get a discount on the membership b/c DH works for the company. I love Sam's but to be honest I don't know much about Costco other than DH calls them "the devil competition worse than Target". So as a stock holder and someone who personally benefits from bonuses when DH's store does better than those 2 companies, pretty much I don't bite the hand that feeds. I don't shop at Target and I don't shop at Costco. (I won't address the previous posters who "hate Walmart". DH has had health insurance, normal hours, and paid overtime even when he was an hourly cashier/cart pusher. They've been a great company to work for. Besides. Walmart saves you $3100/year even if you choose to shop elsewhere. You're welcome.)
And as pp mentioned that Costco will only take AE, Sam's has the same deal with mastercard. So you can only use cash, debit card, or Mastercard. For us Sam's is well worth the membership just from ordering our contacts there. The membership is a little under $30 for us and we each save nearly $200/year on our contact prescriptions. We get a few other tings that are big savings too (like yeast and flour in bulk for my bread making endeavors)
