Rhogam shot yesterday- lol

yesterday morning i had my glucose test- went fine as far as i know, results in a few days. then yesterday afternoon i had my regular OB visit and got my rhogam shot. the nurse was this little 60 year old lady, very nice and sweet, looked very prim and proper and put together (perfect makeup etc). so shes telling me about the shot and how ill get it again on delivery day and then she says in a very "this is the sucky part" tone "...and it goes in your ass.." i hadda laugh, it was toooo funny! so i get up and am getting "in position" for the shot and she turns and says "oh you have a cute little belly!" i thought for sure she was going to say ass again, instead of belly-

she said it might hurt a little later/be sore. i thought nothing of it because it was the second time i was stuck with a needle that day. so i leave the office, get in the car and plop down into the seat. i did one of those moves where it was like you just sat on hot leather seats, jumping up and swearing like a trucker. the injection site hurt like and MF'er!! like i had been stung by a sworm of bees, the shot it self didnt hurt at all!

it was an entertaining experience to say the least. H and I got a good laugh out of it.

I too had to have the Rh shot at my 28 week appointment. The funny/weird thing that happened to me is that I requested the shot in my arm ( I dont like shots in my butt). Well you can have it in your arm too-even though they traditionally do it in your butt. The nurse kept telling me "I dont know why you want it in your arm...your arm is going to be useless for like a week...its going to hurt so much". She kept repeating herself until my DH was like "SHE WANTS IT IN HER ARM!" anyway...come to find out....it didnt hurt at all. I couldnt wait to tell her 2 weeks later that my arm was never sore. I guess that docs/nurses just freak out when you ask to do something outside of their normal way of doing things!

The nurse that did my Rhogam shot was older as well!! The site hurt for about a day, I felt like I had been punched! It got better pretty quick though.

Why do they need to do the Rhogam shot when you get your glucose test? Are they related, or do you just need the Rhogam shot around 28 weeks anyway? I was wondering this yesterday.

theyre not related- as far as i know but both happen at 28 wks'ish. the nurse told me that you have to get your blood drawn no more than 24 hrs prior to the shot. so i guess it just ends up being convienent.

I too had my glucose test and my RhoGAM shot yesterday except for I ended up throwing up. I was a little surprised to find out it had to go in my butt, it really had never occurred to me.

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!! I have to get mine on Monday and had no idea that it was going to have to be in my butt!!!. I told DH there was no reason for him to come with me, but now i might be reconsidering this
