2nd Trimester

anyone else with bleeding gums?

I had a sesame seed bagel for breakfast, I think one of the seeds cut my gums and it bled for like 5 min.  My gums in general have been really sensitive and usually bleed a little when I brush.  Anyone experience this or have any remedies?  I do have very good oral hygiene by the way!

Re: anyone else with bleeding gums?

  • Whenever I brush my teeth, it seems like all I spit out lately is blood.  I think it's normal to have more sensitive gums that bleed more.

  • me, too.  It's normal.  My doctor told me to go to the dentist if it interferes with eating, but other than that, just keep brushing as normal and make sure to floss.  It's a lame part of pregnancy!
  • I haven't experienced sensitive or bleeding gums, however, I went to the Dentist to have my teeth cleaned on Tuesday and she was surprised at how good my gums looked she said typically during pregnancy your gums bleed and become very sensitive.  So apparently it's completely normal.  As for remedies I have no idea since I haven't experienced it!
  • Yes, very common. Mine started around 10 weeks. My dentist said it is perfectly normal and he sees it in most of his pregnant patients. As pp said, just keep brushing and flossing. I hate flossing now because my mouth feels like it's been punched afterwards. But gotta do what we have to do!
  • a few nights ago when I was flossing, my gums started bleeding between every tooth. It looked like something out of a horror movie!

  • It is happening to me too ... I went for my cleaning the other day and I felt so bad for the poor lady since I bleed non stop, she says it is normal and it is great I went for the cleaning, she also said to floss and brush my teeth mre often even if it bleeds more to avoid cavities.
