would you? i was just asked to be part of a bridal party...the wedding would be two months after i deliver. the wedding would be either in nyc or sf, and i'm in chicago. thoughts?
I've done it before. It's not easy, but it's not hard either. If you are flying bring lots of diapers, formula or BM, and some Tylenol for their ears. Give them the Tylenol about 30-45 minutes before take off because that relieves the pressure on their little ears.
Yeah. People do it all the time. I hear when they're really young it's easier to fly with them because they sleep the whole way anyway. All I suggest is to feed the baby at take off and landing so he/she is suckling on something to keep the ears from hurting.
I drove 7 hours with DS when he was 5 weeks old b/c I had him right before our family vacation to the Outer Banks. It really wasn't that bad... we just took our time and made frequent stops for feedings and changing him, etc.
We will be going to the mountains (only 2 hours from home though) with a 6 week old. It is our annual vacation.
When DD was 2 months and 2 weeks we drove from VA to upstate NY (stayed in Canada near the 1000 islands alexandria bay). DD did great. My grandmother was terminal and I wanted her to meet DD.
It was actually an easy drive. It was harder to travel with DD at 20 months for 7 hour car trip because she got bored.
That's really tough. It depends entirely on the baby. I had a colicky, acid-reflux baby and the first 3 months were a nightmare. No, I couldn't have done it, no matter who it was. I cancelled just being a guest at a wedding that was a 4 hour drive away because even 30 minutes in the car with the red, screaming bundle of colic that was my child was too much.
But, I'd say with the other 90% of babies, it would be a piece of cake. So it's a gamble, but your chances are pretty good.

Ugh, I can't imagine. I wish you the best of luck with this one that you'll have a happy baby with no reflux!
I am in exactly the same situation and will be a bridesmaid. I read that the earliest that you would want to travel with a baby is 2 months for health reasons. I would take all of the advice the experienced moms gave about what to pack and I would add this little tidbit: spring for a first class seat! The fewer people breathing over you and little one and the more room you will have to attend to the baby, the better off you will be.
I drove 12 hours (one way) with DD when she was 4 months old. It was a lot easier than I expected. I would really dread doing it now, but when she was little she slept a lot and was pretty flexible.
If it were me I would decline being a bridesmaid and let the bride know if all goes well and the baby is healthy you would love to attend as a guest. That way if things aren't 100% good for traveling you don't have the pressure of being in the bridal party.
I will be traveling with baby, DF, my sister, her husband, and their 2 toddlers about 2 months after I deliver. It'll be a 3 hour plane ride and we're staying at my parents' house in FL so it'll be like a "home atmosphere" so I think it'll be comfortable. It's not like we'll be trying to make due at a hotel with a newborn which my DF would not be willing to do. If you feel comfortable with it and have good accommodations to take care of the baby, go for it.

Yes. I would.
I would also suggest posting this on the 0-3 boards where the ladies have already had their LO's
