A good Highchair?

Anyone have a recommendation?  I have been looking all over for a good one but I cannot find any that I like.  I am more about the safety and stability of the chair then the look.

  • We were given a Peg Perego and I can't begin to tell you all the reasons I hated that f'ing thing.

At a consignment sale, I bought a Chicco Polly and love it.  It is nice looking enough, very easy to clean, altogether very practical.  It came with 2 tray toppers to put over the tray itself (so there was a backup-- wasn't always washing) and there was this extra chair pad thingie that slides over the seat so that again, made it easy to plop into the sink to rinse off easily and put right back on.

    I would rec. it.

  • Thanks.  I was looking at one of those in the store but I love getting the opinion of someone who has used it.  :)

  • I love, love, love our fisherprice spacesaver. We never eat in our dining room, and have an eat-in kitchen. I like how it sits on the chair, and is completely out of the way. It cleans easily, and I have not had one single problem with it.

  • Yes! on the fisher price space saver.  Cleans up so easily, reclines and once your child is old enough to use without the tray you can just pull it right up to the table.  Love, love, love it!
  • oh!  I love the 'grow with me' stuff!  I will have to put that on the list of things to look at as well.  Thanks ladies!

  • I have a very basic Safety 1st booster seat w/ tray. The tray's not very big (that's my only gripe) but I bought it when DS was 5 months old, he's now 31 months and it's held up beautifully. I highly reccomend the space saver/ booster seat type of things. It also makes it so that your child is a part of meals at the table from the beginning, something DS enjoys emensly.

  • I also love the space saver. as long as you dont need that extra chair for seating, its perfect.  weve been using it for over a year and half - no problems.  I love that it coverts to a booster, which is what DS uses it for now.

IMO, any of the booster seats or space savers are the way to go. We bought a regular highchair (evenflow as recommended on consumer reports) and hate it. The cover is hard to clean and if you use it without the cover food gets in the crevices. We got a booster for Christmas as DS loves it and so do we. Plus, he can eat with us at the table now which we love. The traditional high chair was good for maybe about 2 months when having him reclined helped a bit with cereal and I think the space saver reclines

  • we hated the chicco one.  as in, tossed it and bought the graco one that is all wood.  we took out the padding (it gets nasty!) and he sat on the wooden part.  super easy to clean and looks nice.  the chicco had funny creases and getting teh food out of the padding......blech!  i never understood teh reclining option....why would you want your kid to eat leaning back?
