Help...My 1 year old won't

sleep through the night. I know this is my husband's and I's fault for letting her sleep with us this long. She wakes up at least 3 times in the middle of night wanting me to breast feed her. I usually feed her for about 5 minutes and then she falls asleep and repeats this all over again. We really don't want to do the CIO method but it seems like we don't have a choice. She cries and cries until I stick my breast in her mouth. Any advise?

Start replacing a nursing session with a cup of water and when she gets used to that replace another feeding. There is no reason why she has to nurse other then for the comfort.

DD is the same way and so was my son. 3 wakings for a cosleeping one year old is totally normal.

google 'jay gordon nightweaning' for something to try now if you can't deal anymore. Personally I'm going to hold out another couple of months b/c I don't think DD would get it yet. I did it with my son at 22 mos and it was fine. For DD I'll probably split the difference. Maybe 18 mos.

I don't look at the clock and try to just sleep through it. I know not everyone can do that though.

Yeah, it's definately for comfort. My first dd never did this; she was sleeping through the night since 2 months old. We are just so over this. Hubby and I get up at 5am and we are always so drained and tired in the morning.

so definitely nightwean! There might be some crying but you'll be right there. Comforting her!
