should have read the directions TWICE

my SO got me a ball winder for christmas (knitting related).. i went to use it the first time on some lovely alpaca yarn he got me and totally turned it into a giant mess.. we both spent over 20 minutes each trying to unknot it.. it sucks! so im sitting there angry and frustrated and look at the box with the directions.. look at the winder.. and realize i forgot to swing the arm out.. ARHHHHHHHGGGGG...

  • Whoops.

At least your ball winder came with instructions.  Mind didn't.   Indifferent

  • If it makes you feel any better, I did the exact same thing with my gorgeous banana silk yarn and new ball winder.

  • That stupid little arm has screwed me over many times.  It can come loose mid-wind, too, and before you know it you have yarn all wrapped around the gears.

Yes, yes -- this is exactly what happened!  I thought I was losing my mind, and that perhaps there was some sort of secret sisterhood of ball winders, or something, that I was missing out on.
