2nd Trimester

Allergies acting up..what med is safe to take for congestion?

Cedar is high and causing me to be congested, runny nose, itchy throat and watery eyes.

Read in my handbook to take sudafed.

Anyone care to share what their dr has recommended?  I want to take Tylenol Allergy and Sinus but it has 3 meds in it and unsure if its safe. Sending DH to the store soon for some relief and TISSUES :(

Re: Allergies acting up..what med is safe to take for congestion?

  • I use Otravin for my allergies (one of the few things dr. told me is OK - used it with DD). The pharmacist told me to not use Tylenol Allergy and Sinus cause it contains something not recommended for pregnancy.

  • Benadryl is on my safe list.

  • Claritin, Benadryl or Sudafed (w/o ephidrene.)

  • Looks like Sudafed will have to do...DH bought some so I am off to hopefully sleep through this congestion.

    Nite !

  • My doc told me that is was okay to take medication if it did not say "Dont use if Pregnant"

He also told me to use medication in moderation.  Follow the directions and you will be fine.

  • It sounds like the cause of your symptoms is actually an allergy flare up, so I would take an antihistamine like benadryl.

Sudafed (plain pseudoephedrine you get behind the pharmacy counter, not the PE form on the general floor) is OK too though.
