after MUCH confusion and many decision changes we went w/ the Playtex drop-in system. i plan on breastfeeding, and was told good things about their nurser nipples. they work well for colic as long as you get all the air out of the bags, and are easy to clean too (unlike the dr browns w/ all the pieces).

Based on a recommendation from a friend, we registered for the MAM bottles, since they supposedly allow for a good transition between breast and bottle feeding. We started with the 5 oz size.
We also registered from some different sized MAM nipples, to be used later, as baby gets older.
I think I am going to look at the Playtex insert option, too - though - since those were also recommended to me.
I've heard to buy a few different brands at first to see what you and your baby like. All babies are different. We have Avent, Playtex drop-ins and Dr. Browns. I figure we'll end up liking one of these best.
Just get a few in a brand to try them out (maybe 5-6). Sure, you'll have to do lots of washing to rotate but I've heard you might want to try a few brands before you know what works for you.
I definitely recommend Born Free! With our son we tried several bottles. And then he got colicky... just what I needed while going to school full time! Someone let us borrow their Born Free bottles and it was like somone had flipped a switch and we had our happy baby again!

Based on recommendations from friends and Baby Bargins book, we registered for Dr. Browns. But, only a couple in each size 4oz and 8 oz just incase baby hates them I have to try other brands.
Re: bottle confusion?!? need help
I am well familiar with the confusion.
