Applebee's Sucks VENT

So DH and my best friend up here decided we wanted to drive into town and have Applebee's for dinner. We even drove an extra 10 minutes to the other Applebee's because it's known to have a great reputation. Not so much...

First we ordered a round of Pepsi. Sarah and I excused ourselves to the ladies room. NO SOAP. Sarah went to get someone and after 5 minutes of waiting we knocked on the men's door and used their soap. Well, we wait about 10 minutes for the waiter to come back and order our appetizer and meals. He didn't offer a gift card so Sarah pointed it out (you're supposed to get a free one if they don't offer) He just looks down and heads to the kitchen. About 20 minutes have passed and the waiter returns (NO APPETIZER) to tell her it's not fair to him about the gift card because we didn't give him til the end of the meal and it would come out of his tip and such. Fine, just get our food. Another 20 minutes...no food, no appetizer. After 50 minutes Sarah's fajitas come. Then DH's wings. Then finally my burger. All from different people we've never seen. We tell the younger kid who brought my burger not to worry about the appetizer at this point because it's silly and if we could just get our pickles, ranch and drinks we'll be ok. He says ok and also says he'll get the manager. So we decide to at least wait for the refills. 5 more minutes pass and not only are our drinks empty, pickles and extra sides of ranch are missing but our original waiter is MIA. We start eating. What else could we do. Sarah got up a few times searching for someone to help but everyone she found was serving a table. I get a few good bites of my burger, Sarah puts together a fajita and DH looks at his plate and stares. Sarah asks, "is that what I think it is?" I stop what I'm doing to see an entire BUG on a piece of celery that came with the wings!! Are you kidding me?? All we wanted was a nice dinner out. We would have been fine once we got our food and drinks but the bug was the last straw. Now we're not only furious  but we've all lost any appetite we had. The manager finally comes over and says it's all on the house and he'll get a fresh meals...but at the point, who could really eat? We ended up just walking out.

Sorry this is long but I just had to vent. And poor DH, I don't think he'll ever eat another piece of celery for the rest of his life.

    WHATTT?? Are you serious?

    I LOVE Applebees! We eat there allll the time. Let me know which one this is, so I NEVER go there lol. 

    I'm really sorry your night was ruined, that is a bummer! At least the manager was good and you guys didn't have to pay. It sounds like your server will get fired though. If not, he needs to. He sucks lol.

    I haven't been to an apple bee's in years, in fact I dont even know if there is one in the city.  That's awful service though =(  It's always a bummer going out to eat & ending up wishing you cooked at home.

    Oh, that sucks, I'm sorry! I was a server for 5 years and there's no excuse for that.  I hate when you are looking forward to a nice meal out and it turns out crappy.

    I mean honestly we would have been ok getting food and drinks...but that bug. Ugh! So gross. I'm pretty sure DH will never, ever eat celery again. I mean, with the bug the way it was on the celery tipping it when washed it would have fallen off. Makes me wonder if they even washed it. Ick!

    I refuse to eat there at all! 

    First of all, I found a bug crawling in my salad and the manager tried to tell me that sometimes there will be bugs on the leaves.  I told him that if it was washed, there would be no bugs.  I got a free meal from that one. 

    I had gone back to use my free meal with my husband and got a fried chicken feather in my vegetarian nachos.  That was it!  They offered me another free meal but I stood up and started yelling at them again.  Why would I want to eat there if every time I came, there was an issue with my food! 

    I will take Fridays any time over them.

    I don't blame you. I would so love a Fridays up here!! We don't have any in the area. I think the closest may be an hour and half away. At least :( Makes me sad, I LOVE Friday's.

    I always feel bad for the wait staff if they try and help and I hate to yell at anyone.  The manager however made me mad by trying to say it was not a big deal.  Same guy for both times.  

     I am lucky that everything is so close.  I am sorry that they are far away from you.  I hate it when they advertise for things that are more then an hour away on the TV. 

    I saw Sonic, now I want a chocolate shake.  The closest one is about 2 hours from here

    Oh yea....Applebee's BLOWS!  DH and I quit going there a long time ago when it seemed that every time we ordered we got lukewarm food and lukewarm salad.  NOT cute at all.  Their service and food quality as definitely started to go down.

    I'm sorry :( I love their wings/ but their service always sucks. When we went yesterday the server forgot my son's grilled cheese. It came at the very end of our meal, so after he had munched on all of our food, he didn't want it.

    You should go to their website and see if you can contact them to complain. I had a friend do that with a bad experience at The Outback and she got a gift card out of it. Might be worth a shot!

    My husband and I call it "Crapplebee's" for a reason. We've both eaten there a few times and never had good food or good service. Never eating there again

    I'm going to have to agree with this!  It's Applebees - I wouldn't have expected much more.

    i completely agree.  my DH and i refuse to go there any more.  we went one day, seeing as how they had the "2 for 20" special.  DH's burger was disgusting and my ribs were the worst i have ever had.  for my money, if you're looking to get a quick bite from a chain restaurant - we like ruby tuesday's (that salad bar is awesome) and chili's is great.

    We don't have any of those up here :( Not unless we want to drive a few hours. Sadly out here, Applebee's or Texas Roadhouse are your top picks.

    We're not stationed in an area that offers nicer places. Applebee's or Texas Roadhouse are the top places people have to go. A few local mom and pop places and Golden Corals and such.

    You should write to the corporate office.  They need to know if a chain is serving bug food and is in obvious need of training.

    Are you in Kansas City? Applebee's is everywhere around KC... practically one on every block cuz they are headquartered in Overland Park (or somewhere in Johnson County... can't remember which) :)
