    It was a name someone was going to give their kid.  I think it was from the national boards, but it could have been someone famous.  Oh, and when I read your title, I thought "shady nasty" and had to think about it.  It's pronounced Sha-dynasty, for realz.  Klassy.

    I'm glad someone posted how to pronounce it...I was like shady nasty?  wha?

    A friend of mine who was a nurse said a lady came in with her daughter--and pronounced her name fa-ma-lay.  When asked how to spell it, she said f-e-m-a-l-e....she said that was what was on the birth certificate--female johnson...

    she asked "how do you pronounce this? Leigh? Leah?"

     Girl FLIPPED out and said "NO! Its Le-dash-ah" (le-ah was how it was spelled legally!) 

    we were like WTF! I kinda feel bad b/c she didn't name herself and has probably been getting the same crap for years but really, I would lie and say its leah!

    Exactly. Just because your parents gave you a jacked up name doesn't mean you have to defend it. If it causes that much grief (And I'm sure it does) - Change it!

    Wow...some of these names ...

    Did I ever mention that when I had K2, the nurses told us that someone named their child Skywalker? Oh, and also, Beige (because one parent was white and the other was black). For realz.
