DD cries every time we touch the hand that she's been favoring. She lets us poke and prod her other arm and hand but the second we touch that one she cries. And she isn't really moving it away when we touch it either.
Would you take her to the ER/Urgent care (we're not sure the latter is even still operating) tonight or wait til tomorrow and see the pedi? I would hate to put it off and keep her in pain (which motrin didn't help much last night) but I just don't know if this is serious enough for all the time that you spend there, plus the stress on her.
Re: Would you go to urgent care/ER?
What does your gut say? Does you gut tell you that she needs to be seen? Or do you honestly think that she can wait until tomorrow.
Even my gut is conflicted. DH's says to wait but neither of us want to deal with another crappy night of uncertainty. At least if we went in and they looked at her it'd be doing something proactive.
I think our sleep deprivation is the major key in our having trouble with this decision.
You took her in today because you were worried. If you are still worried and still unsure then ask yourself this:
1) will I sleep tonight if I don't bring her in
2) will I feel like crap if I take her in tomorrow and something is really wrong
3) will I feel stupid if I take her in tonight and they send me home
1) Yeah, probably - as long as she slept
2) Yep
3) Yep
I'm no help, I know. I usually have pretty strong gut feelings so being conflicted like this is not normal for me and makes me uncomfortable.
Do you think it is broken?
We went a week with a broken leg ;o)
Go with your gut?
11 months
Then I would probably give her some motrin, try to get her to sleep and see how it goes. If after the motrin she still doesn't go down then I'd call the nurse line and see what they say to do.
But...if you start to get a strong feeling to take her in then go. It's better to be safe then sorry.
No clue! And we can't figure out when she would have hurt it either. She hasn't had any falls. It's so weird.
Might be nursemaid's elbow?

Ok, after reading this I'd probably take her in.
I always go for the obvious. Is it mishaped like it's broken? Is it swollen? Has it changed color? Is there any chance of a splinter or the like? Can she move it? If you touch the fingertips, do they blanch and the color returns in less than 3 seconds? If that is all ok, give her motrin and call in the morning. If not, go in. If it is broken and you don't find out until the morning, you'll know that you did your best tonight and some things really aren't obvious. I hope tonight goes well.
I probably would take her in to be seen. I never hesitate to take my kids in though. If your health insurance has a nurse line, they can often recommend the best place to take her. Ours can tell us the closest open urgent care and even call them and tell them we're on our way. For me, I'd rather take her in and have it be nothing than wait with her in so much discomfort.
If Glad said to take her in I'd definitely do it. I hope you can get some answers soon on why Mady is hurting so much.
I'd probably take her in if it were me.
Actually, I'd call the nurse line and see what they say at this time of night, but most likely I would end up taking her in.
