2nd Trimester

SO im sitting home crying....

Im trying to pack for our cruise for our 1st anniversary and NOTHING fits my right!  My SIL bought me a dress for Hannukah and it just looks like i put a garbage bag on =*(  I know people say formal night isnt what it used to be on cruises but i LOVE formal night.. DH wears a suit and we just get really into it.  I feel like a blimp and totally NOT sexy at all!   DH said we'll go shopping over the weekend and find me some nice dresses but honestly we can't really afford much right now.  Things are really tight with the baby coming =*(  Im just so upset ladies!

  • DO you have any friends that you can call who have maternity clothes that you can borrow? Thats is what I did. We all pass around our maternity clothes to all of girls. I am so sorry but DH will think you are beautiful no matter what!

  • I'm sorry that you're feeling bad.  I would be frustrated, too!  I'm sure you'll have a great time on the cruise, no matter what you wear! :)  Feel better soon.

  • Sad I agree with PP...do any of your friends have any maternity clothes you can borrow? I am sorry you feel like a blimp. I bet you look great! *hugz*

  • I totally know how you feel... I had my first breakdown before my cousin's wedding cuz the dress I wanted to wear to a family shabbat dinner didn't zip up!  Try Old Navy for a couple dresses... they're not super fancy, but they're cheap and if you wear it with confidence I'm sure you'll look great!  Good luck!

  • No, Im the first of my friends married and the first having a baby (im 25 so on the younger side for this area) so no one other than my sister in law has stuff.  She didnt give me any dresses but a lot of her stuff was too big for me. I guess its just one of those days.

Can you get a cute belt to wear with the dress your SIL got you? I'm not sure if you can put it above your bump.

  • I know it's hard but a vacation might be just what you need!  I'm sure you will find some cute creative solutions before you leave.  Good luck - I'm sending you good thoughts!

  • I found a really great looking maternity dress at a nice consignment store the other day that I plan on wearing to a wedding next month.  I went in for another reason and stumbled across it.  I had it dry cleaned and it looks brand new.

Don't stress too much about the clothes....go enjoy your awesome cruise!

  • Do you have any maternity consignment shops nearby?  Or even some of the bigger thrift stores sometimes have a really nice selection of maternity clothes!  They're definitely hit or miss, but you never know!

  • Your post makes me want to cry but only because I would die to be going on a cruise right about now.  I feel trapped in this crap of a snow drift and was just saying how I want to go on a trip to someplace warm.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it no matter what the heck you've got on, lol ; )

  • Do you have any empire waist dresses that are non-maternity?  These still fit me & make the bump look cute.

  • I'm sure you will look great! Don't let this bother you too much so that you don't enjoy the cruise...some ladies would die to have that experience, and would be glad to wear anything on it! Just enjoy yourself and be glad you aren't in 3rd tri yet...we are what you would call "cruise whales". ahahha Have fun!
  • I love this website www.delias.com .  Its on the younger side..but under dresses they have a tag for "the little black dress"  they have them in all different styles ...and some would work w/ a baby bump.  Can never go wrong with a cute black dress....AND....theyre affordable.

  • I know what you mean about being upset about your clothing. It seems everytime I buy something, baby grows and it doesn't fit like I wanted it to.

A PP put up delias, also try www.alloy.com. Sometimes you can find some really great items on www.gojane.com that are beautiful and inexpensive. I think www.target.com might have had some more formal style dresses that flatter the bump but I'm not sure.

You'll be beautiful on your cruise =]. Just try to relax and really enjoy your time.

  • Do you have a Ross or TJMaxx where you live? They have formal dresses and you can get them pretty cheap. I know someone who got a long, formal black dress for $8.

    Good Luck and Have Fun!

  • Target, Kohls, and Old Navy have cute, affordable maternity clothes! Check them out! Dresses are hard when you are pregnant. Does your SIL have a cute maternity skirt and fun shirt you could wear instead?

I know how you feel. Not that I have anything formal to go to, but I am growing faster this pregnancy than I did with my first and this baby is due earlier in the year. So I don't have a lot of winter maternity clothes since with my son, I didn't really need maternity clothes till warmer weather. I borrowed some from two friends, but they are all too big or too small. I am very thrifty and just don't want to spend money on new clothes I'll wear for a couple of months when I do have some! So I'm constantly hiking up these too big maternity pants!!!
