2nd Trimester

What do Braxton-Hicks feel like?

Can anyone describe it to me?

I wake up in the middle of the night almost every night for the past 2 or so weeks b/c it feels like the baby has curled up in a ball on one side of my stomach and the whole thing is hard.  (not sure if that is what is happening, but it's the only way I can describe it) I generally can lay on my side and rub it a little and make it go away...

is this Braxton-Hicks or is this something else?

  • It feels like your stomach is tightening up.  It sounds like a BH to me.  (By the way, I just got this information from Kaiser at my "mid-pregnancy" class tonight.)

  • Every morning when I wake up, little Yoshi is curled in a ball on my left front side. My stomach on that side is hard as a rock. If I move around a bit, he does too and it goes away. I have know idea what or why it happens, but the first time it kinda freaked me out. This is my first, so I have no idea what BH feels like.

  • Sounds like you might be having them to me.

My BH didn't ever cause pain, but my stomach would get rock hard for a few minutes at a time.

  • Your stomach will get really tight and hard for a minute or so.  Then it just loosens up.

    freaks me out sometimes too:)

Guess that's why I wanted to know what it was and if it was normal...
glad to hear I'm not the only one:)

  • Doesn't really hurt but is definitely a hardening that usually lets up in about a minute.  They feel very strange and uncomfortable though.

  • That's what happened to me when I had mine.  But mine hurt.  I had kidney stones a while back and it felt like I was getting another one, but it went away after a minute.
  • My contractions always just felt like menstrual cramps...even during actual labor, I never felt like my whole abdomen was tightening, it was just like a bad cramp times 1000000000000.
