Anyone know what cold medicine I can take while EBF?

    not sure i am just taking tylenol - i asked the dr previously and she said that was ok

    I am going through this right now. I was told its safe to take Robitussin in limited quantities. Sudafed is a no no.

    I know someone will have an answer for you but in case you need it in the future--You can call the Poison Control Line if you ever have questions about what you can take while bfing--even vitamins and herbs.  They have the big book that LCs have that tells you what is safe and what isn't.  (It's not an emergency type line.)

    I just got over a horrible cold/bronchitis.  You can take an antihistamine, but try to take a 4-6 hr tablet vs. a 12 hr tablet and drink more water since it could lower your milk supply (only while you're on the meds).

    this may not help. sorry. but I read you should try to avoid it if at all possible because it could lower the supply and that its not worth it. however, being sick sucks and I understand your wanting meds.

    I just went through a bad cold and asked my pharmacist. She said there isnt anything you can take whil EBF'ing, no decongestants. She said decongestants like Nyquil, Tylenol cold&sinus ectect all get passed through BM to your lo and can give them uneven heartrates. I had already taken some Tylenol cold and sinus & was hoping she would say it would be fine and just not to take anymore. She said to really watch my ds just in case.

    So I just got a saline spray and sprayed it in my nose about ever 1-2 hrs for the next 4 days and used lots of vapour rub and I got over the cold in 4 days flat!! Shortest cold Ive ever had. I think taking meds stalls your body from getting over it. Hope your feeling better soon.
