Vacation Ideas?!

I would love to plan a mini-vacation away like the middle of March...but I have no ideas! We could only get away for about 3-4 days, so we would want to be able to drive there. So, any ideas? We went to Gatlinburg for our honeymoon. And we've been to Disney World several times.

  • How far are you wanting/willing to go?

  • To be honest I'm not really sure!! :) I had thought about Savannah, Ga...but I don't really know anything about it.
  • I LOVE Savannah.  Another good option in that vein is Beaufort, S.C.  DH surprised me with a trip there for our anniversary last year.  Its between Charleston and Savannah (VERY close to Hilton Head).  It has all the historical stuff, great places to eat, a wonderful state park, etc. without being as busy as the BIG 3 out there.  And it is an easy drive to Savannah, Tybee or Charleston.  They filmed most of Forrest Gump and The Big Chill there and is just a great walking city.

My absolute FAVORITE getaway is Valle Crucis, NC.  Its right outside of Boone, N.C.  We went last spring and it was beautiful.  We always stay at https://www.bairdhouse.com/

Its quiet there with lots of outdoorsy stuff to do.  Also FABULOUS places to eat and shop.  The couple who owns the B&B are wonderful and so kind and helpful.  And she can cook like no one's business.  We've stayed in the carriage house and in the main house and both are good, but we prefer the carriage house.

I can give you some more details if either of those appeal to you.

  • Both of those ideas sound fantastic!! Thank you so much. I'm going to check out the links you gave me and talk with DH about it. I'm sure I will ask you more details!

     Thanks again.

  • I vote for Savannah, Ga!!!

We went last year and had a great time!!

  • I was going to suggest Savannah too!  We went there from Thursday-Sunday for our first anniversary and loved it!  It seemed like a great amount of time and there is a lot to do.  I really recommend checking out The 1895 Inn bed and breakfast.  We stayed there and it was fantastic!  At the time, it was rated #1 in Savannah on tripadvisor.com.

  • You could go to Chattanooga. It's really nice. They have tons to do and see.

Also Memphis is fun. Great places to eat.

  • Savannah and Charleston are both amazing places to visit!!  So much to see...and fun places to eat :)  With the trolly tours it is so easy to visit so many places in just an afternoon.

We have also been to Memphis a few times.  It is a really fun place.  There is Beale Street....and The Neely's BBQ (two of my favs)!

  • Since you are in Mobile, have you considered a cruise?  Carnival has 3 and 4 day cruises out of Mobile.   DH and I have been on them twice now - it's convenient and hard to beat all that you get for the price.

I have thought about a cruise. But, DH gets VERY sea sick. He attempted to go deep sea fishing over the summer and it didn't turn out very well!
