Just curious if you would recommend it or do I shell out the extra bucks for a Medela PISA?
If it matters, I will be working at home (with the baby and caretaker) until he is 5 mos. old, when he will go to a center daycare so I will need to send pumped BM. Also I am hoping to switch jobs around the same time so I can't be sure I will still be working at home, so whatever pump I buy should be good enough (quiet enough?) for a traditional office job situation.

TTC #1 Cycle 14 - IUI#1=BFN, IUI#2=BFP | TTC #2 Cycle 8=BFP!!

i had both (both gifted to me - i totally lucked out) and they are both great pumps. upside of the ameda is that it is a closed system, so you can buy a used one and feel safe using it, and feel confident that it will be fine for more than one kiddo.
now i kinda want the freestyle for the new baby...but i am thinking that THREE breastpumps is more than any one woman should have experience with. FOUR if you count the hospital grade one i rented at first....
I used the Ameda for the six weeks I worked after having DD. I had a lot of luck with it and had no supply issues. I found it fairly quiet. I was teaching and had to pump in a tutoring room in the satellite trailer, which had no sound proofing. YOu could hear people's telephone conversations in their offices with the door closed. That being said I wasn't self-conscious about the noise it put off. My pump did make a slight beeping noise with the hum of the motor, which I have read some people complain about but it didn't bother me.
My sister had the PIS and loved it. She worked after having both her girls and was able to successfully pump for the 6 months she nursed both times.
FYI - The Lansinoh BPA-free double-electric pump is essentially the same as the Ameda, only a lot less $.
I bought the Lansinoh pump @ www.drugstore.com where it is on sale for $102.99. You can also find coupon codes for free shipping & $10.00 off your order.
I have it and pumped with it until my DS weaned at 10 months. (I was pregnant, would have nursed longer...)
Anyway, its a good pump. All the things everyone else already said.
