Has anyone taken a hypnobirthing class? What was your opinion on it.
I know it is super late but i am trying to get into a class but wanted to get some people's opinions who may have done it before i sign up. Any info would be appriciated.
I had heard about it too but didn't want to sign up for a class...so I sort of forgot about it. Until a friend of mine mentioned it again and sent me her CD and book from the class. I have listened every night and have been able to fall asleep super fast and have been able to relax. Not sure how it will work during delivery, but I figure it won't hurt. I haven't had a moment to look over the book, but have it on my list of things to do. Good luck.
DD was delivered med pain free with the use of Hypnobirthing. I have only wonderful things to say about the class, our instructor and the whole overall birth experience. We are actually getting together with our instructor next week for a "refresher" for this LO's birth - didn't think another 5-week course was necessary. It's not really that late, either. One woman in our class hit 40 weeks the day after our last of the 5 sessions, just be sure to read the book and practice the techniques at home. Good luck!
There are some VERY EXCELLENT relaxation methods in the books. If you have a chance to do some research into the books and/or listen to the CDs I would recommend it. I did not take the classes, but am using this as my general birth plan. DH and I both read the book written by Mongan, and practiced nearly every night. By now, I can relax myself into shutting everything out and even sleep. It's awesome!! Don't know how it will work out come delivery time, but I have confidence that my body knows what it's doing, and that's all I can hope for at this point.
My friend did it with her second and loved it, no meds and pain free. She advised me to do it for the second just because with the first you have no idea what you are in for.
I am doing something similar, guided visual imagery and meditation. I alrealdy know how to do both though, I just need to practice again. If I have to have meds or an epidural I am going to try to wait till the last min.

Thank you so much for the insight. The only reason I say it is so late is because there is only 1 session that finishes before my due date at the one place within a reasonable distance from my house. The next available session ends 3 weeks after my due date. I wish I would have researched this sooner, if I don't get in the class that starts next week I can't do it at all
