I cant believe this crap!!!

so i have been trying to contact the people who handles our insurance (I work for a small Drs office) since Nov. to make a long story short. im 20wks on sun. i go for my BIG u/s on the 5th BUT they just now telling us that the insurance we have not will be terminated and we will have another one for JAN ONLY. so i had already paid my 2 prenatal visits and a % for the u/s. What am i suppose to do now? IDK what insurance i will have oh and get this...the ded is $3000. WTF!!!! I just faxed in my applications for Medicaid and hopefully i can get that. that means i will have to change Drs but i dont care. I NEED INSURANCE!

    I'm a bit lost.  The doctor's office is no longer going to provide health insurance? 

    Our deductible is very high as well.  :(

    I changed insurance during my pregnancy.  The doctor applied everything I pre-paid (like the u/s and prenatal visits) on the old insurance to the new insurance.  Why won't you have insurance after January?  Is your job no longer offering insurance?

    yeah the are but dont know for sure what insurance we will have. so that means that i may have to pay a ded first for any prenatal care or u/s or high copay or diagnostic testing..at this point in the pregnancy i shouldnt be paying anymore. but if they keep changing insurances im gona constanly be paying for EVERYTHING.

    Ok, I see now.  It does suck, but at least you'll still HAVE insurance of some kind right?

    And it's the same concept of being pregnant during 2 different years.  My deductible starts over in January so I'm paying all this money this year towards prenatal stuff, and it starts over in January.

    My company was just bought so I am not sure where we stand as far as insurance goes.  When is your DH's open season for insurance at his job, if it is before the baby is born maybe switch.

    My Dh open season just closed but we will all switch over to his insurance once the baby is born.

    We are going through the same thing. I know we are switching companies, but I haven't gotten any new cards and we start January 1st. We too are going for $400 OOP for maternity to $3000. I feel your pain.

    Check the state laws where you live.  In Florida if you become pregnant and start to receive maternity care under one insurance plan that plan is required to cover your pregnancy to the end, even if you are no longer on their plan.

    I would go this route, if possible.  Losing coverage at your job may be a "qualifying event" to switch now.  We were able to do this once b/c I changed jobs.

    I wish this were the case in my state.  The insurance I had before my company switched was much better than the insurance I have now.
