Doppler help please

MH got me a Bebe Sounds doppler for a christmas and i've tried using it a couple times and havent had any luck. After reading the manual it says that it shouldnt be used til the 3rd trimester. Something about only magnifying the sounds in your stomach opposed to other dopplers that apparently turn movement into sounds. Does this sound right? or am I doing something wrong?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

    Don't know about this brand but if that's what the manual says, I'd believe them. At 17 weeks, it used to take me quite a while to find LO even with a 'normal' doppler.

    YES! My mother did the same thing to me (after explicitly saying no baby stuff for Christmas). She was in such a hurry for me to try it, I did right there without reading the manual. I started getting nervous because I couldn't hear anything eventhough the dr. did just two days earlier. When I got home, I discovered that it will only work in 3rd tri. Don't freak out.

    I think it is more like a stethescope than a doppler. A doppler can hear starting at 10 weeks with many brands. The one you are talking about (like the one I got at Wal-mart) is usually for late 2nd tri, 3rd tri. It just magnifies the heartbeat and movement. It's not really using the "doppler" technology. I'd save it, though, for later in 2nd tri or 3rd tri, even though you'll be feeling much movement by then. It's a really good though from DH, shows he's excited too!

    I have the Hi Bebe doppler and was able to hear at 14 weeks. I ordered mine online. I think as the pp said though, some of them are not as sensitive so don't freak out.

    Yeah he got this one at BRU and just got excited so he didn't read it! He was pretty disappointed it won't work now. We probably will keep it because he was looking forward to using the recording function. I guess we'll have to invest in another one tho for the time being! Thanks for the help!

    Got my doppler on Amazon.com. I think it's the hibebe one. Works very well. Read the reviews.
