2nd Trimester

Weight gain at 19 weeks?

Has anyone had no weight gain at 19 weeks? I am starting to get concerned since my net gain is zero pounds. At my 16 week appt, the nurse said the baby was growing so that's all I should be concerned about but still, after the holidays I thought I'd for sure put on weight. And I'm not trying to diet or anything.

I guess I will find out more this afternoon since it's our big u/s.

  • For that appt (it was our big U/S) the nurse got me  losing 4lbs. Lord knows how, I didn't feel like I lost. But I took her word for it.

  • At 17 weeks I was still down a pound, but this is my 2nd & I was a bit fluffy to begin with.  Not trying to diet, but I am eating better and eating less b/c I can no longer gorge myself.  Just keep track of it & listen to your Dr.  Believe me, you really start to gain in the last half!
  • I have a few weeks to go. But I'm at negative four pounds since my first visit. I have had no pregnancy symptoms. So it's not due to food aversions or m/s. Actually, I haven't had a huge appetite, though. Maybe it's that I'm trying to eat healthier? I don't know. My doctor wasn't too concerned at the last appt. As long as I'm eating when I'm hungry and the baby is growing fine. It takes what it needs.

  • If your baby is growing according to the OB, I'd try not to worry. A couple weeks ago I had only gained about 2lbs at 17ish weeks and the dr. said I was doing great with my weight gain. He said most weight should come on after the 5th and 6th months. That being said, I'm now 19w and have put on a total of 8lbs! You'll put it on at your own pace.
  • Thanks, ladies...I'm chalking it up to eating healthier and not drinking wine (which leads to more cheese too). The big u/s will tell us a lot more but it's good to hear this is somewhat normal.

  • I lost 11 lbs during the first 2 trimesters with my DS. I gained a good bit back in the last 2 months of the 3rd tri. My Drs were okay with it since the baby was still growing. =)
  • As long as your doctor says your baby is growing normally, I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone and every pregnancy is different. I'm sure you'll start gaining weight soon enough.

  • ?

If the doctor isn't worried I wouldn't be either.?

I had only gained a pound at 17 weeks (I never lost any either) and my baby was measuring at about 52-53 percentile at my Level II. My doc said he did want to see some weight gain by 20 weeks but was more interested in how the baby was measuring. I am getting another ultrasound at 24 weeks to check growth as a precaution because he said my weight gain is still on the low side according to my doctor.?

  • I am still -10 pounds but my doctor said that I was fine and I had my big U/S and the baby is fine, actually on the bigger side. So I think your fine
