take my side on this.  we found out we are haing a boy today and my SO has loved the name Dean, forever.  he met the wrong girl in this situation because my DD's NN is Bean.....i believe it is to close and Dean is just NMS.

    Yes to close to Bean,

    Also so many Deans I know get called Dean - O.  I have no idea why but defiantely ruled the name out for me

    I don't think it's that big a deal that Dean is close to Bean but I do think if you don't love the name it should be out. Sorry DH

    I plan on using Dean as a MN if we have another boy-but it's because its a family name.

    Is using it as a middle name an option? And you probably won't be calling your other child "bean" forever. :)

    i cant use it as a MN because Michael is our MN, and i WILL NOT budge on it.  its a family name for both of us.  and i refuse to be like SOs mother and give the baby two middle names like SO has.
