Tell her at her 40w3d appt that she is only 1.5cm and 50% and that the contraction line on the NST is one of the flattest you've ever seen. Zero contraction activity.Top it off by commenting on what a big baby she has in there.

I don't think there is any chance, I'm having this kid before my induction on the 5th. <sobbing>

I was not dilated even a fingertip and not even enough contractions to build a profile (you only need 1 an hour) at my dr. appt two days before I delivered.

Things can change quickly.

been there! have a big cry and then research inductions and then cry some more. it sucks but know that others have been there and some others are there with you still. hang in there and indulge in another bath, a date night, ice cream or just open the bottle of wine and have a glass (at this point i figure baby is developed and mommy deserves it!)

also pray that it does not signal future personality traits-my first didn't want to come out and she is one stubborn little sucker yet today-------knows her mind and isn't afraid to share it and has been that way since birth (lucky me!-ha)

It's ok, honey! Honestly, internal exams don't mean anything - you can go from 0 to 60 in no time if the baby decides it's birthday. Remember, due dates are just a guess anyway - no woman has ever been pregnant forever!

My cervix was thick and closed at 40w1d. I have another internal tonight, I think. But I am sure I will be getting induced starting Sunday night. I just hope it works this time!

Just had my last appt. this morning. The doc asked me if I wanted to know if I was still at 1cm...as my DH was laughing. I said to just tell me but as a warning I might cry (I've been 1 cm. since 37 weeks.). As it felt like she was ripping my cervix out of my body she told me I was still at 1, then said "maybe 1-2" to make me feel better. I told her (half-jokingly) that I would go right to the hospital for an induction today, but there really was no "medical" reason for it. I'm scheduled for one on January 6. I guess waiting for natural labor is much better for you and the baby but it just seems so far away! I know how you feel! Good luck to you!
