2nd Trimester

Very Emotional Today :(

I saved all of DD's clothes in case we would need them for our next LO, but since we are having a boy I decided I needed to get rid of most of them today.  We don't really have room in our house to store all of them either.  As I went through all of her newborn clothes I started to cry.  I can't believe this time last year I was washing all these clothes and hanging them in her closet with great anticipation of her arrival. I looked at every outfit remembering things we did while she wore it such as her coming home outfit, her first easter, her first St. Patrick's Day and so on.

I would have never thought clothes could make me this emotional.  I am just going to blame it on the hormones.

I now have 3 huge boxes just of newborn and 0-3 clothes to take to the resale shop.  It really makes me mad that I know they won't give me hardly anything for the clothes.  I really wish I wasn't feeling so down now.  Maybe I will have DH take me to lunch and shopping for baby stuff to make me feel better. :(

Re: Very Emotional Today :(

  • Sorry it's making you sad. Have you thought about bundling stuff and selling on craigslist or ebay instead? You would probably get more.

  • Bittersweet, I'm sure.  But now you get to prepare for another beautiful baby.

  • I have to do the same thing.  And I know I'm going to get emotional too.
  • I think it's normal to feel emotional about your DD's newborn clothes.  I definitely recommend going shopping for DS to cheer yourself up!

Do you have any friends or relatives who might have a baby in the next few years?  You might feel better if you hold onto DD's newborn clothes to pass along to someone you know instead of the consignment shop.  If it turns out I'm having a boy this time around, my plan is to keep my DD's clothes boxed up in case my sister or cousin has a baby girl in the future.

By the way, your DD looks so sweet in her photo with Santa!  My DD wore the same dress from Gymboree for Christmas.  I loved the velvet collar and bow.  It looks great in your photo.

  • If you don't need the money, maybe ask a local church if there is a family in need of this clothing and give it to them. It might make you feel better knowing you are helping out a family in need and give you some joy knowing a little, less fortunate child is able to wear them. Just a thought.
  • Why not put them on Ebay?

Thanks!  I love the dress too.  It is so fun dressing little girls.

  • I would do craig's list or Ebay but I am not really sure what reasonable prices are and also I am not sure how to set it up.
