Your baby shouldn't be expected to STTN this early on. Some people are lucky, and have babies that are naturally good sleepers. The rest of us have to suck it up and feed our babies when they get hungry in the middle of the night. A baby's stomach is the size of it's fist, and they do a lot of growing, which = a lot of calorie burning. Expecting them to go a long time without food is not developmentally appropriate at this juncture. Giving them solid foods that their digestive systems aren't ready for is not going to solve this.
thanks, I was just curious as to what the norm was on here! I saw one post where the LO was only a few weeks old. My baby wakes up 1-2 times at night and I am very happy with that!
ha ha yeah my mom and I were just talking about this tonight. Apparently she gave me cereal in my bottle at 2 weeks old because that is "what you did" even though she said the pedi yelled at her then for doing it. She said I was still hungry after my 8oz bottle...apparently I was a chunker
But to original poster's question I would not recommend doing it at all. Yes people do and yes it will make your little one sleep longer but their digestive system is not ready to handle such food and it could lead to allergies in the future.
yes my mother did it for my brother, and i did it for my oldest daughter, but this time around i am not going to do it...she sleeps fine at night between 4 and 5 hours...i am really grateful for that! i am waiting to give her the cereal at 4 months

I meant the bottles for cereal! I know for sure Sassy makes one..
Mine, too.
Now they say to wait until at least 4 mos. of age, though.

The AAP recommends holding off on all foods (except breastmilk or formula) for 6 months.
Introducing it too early can lead to allergies, and GI issues now and/or later on. Your babies belly is physically not ready to digest these foods!
