Please view my blog for the deets...it is not very well written, but I have been working on it slowly for the last 3 days when I have had time.
EJ has been fighting jaundice, and we have been spending a substantial amount of time at the doctors and lab trying to treat this. Poor little guy.
We have also been stuggling with breast feeding, I have had to supplement with formula because of the jaundice and EJ has a clamp (I cant remember what they call it) and so it has been a challenge for me to deal with. I am hanging in there...perseverance...I really want BF'ing to work out for us and today has gone VERY well (not without a lot of pain, but he is being satisfied by just my milk production which is a new thing) so I am feeling a great sense of hope.
Re: EJ (aka MM)'s Arrival (Birth story)
So sorry about the jaundice, that is too bad. We had the same problem with the milk supply and the supplementation. I'm sure you are pumping after feeds to increase supply? It seems crazy with how tired you are but it really helps. I also took a lactation supplement with fenugreek and blessed thistle and I think that helped a lot too. Some people say oatmeal and beer help but my lactation consult felt that was not helpful, but it can't really hurt I guess.
Hang in there it gets much much better in a few weeks. Long long weeks. I was so exhausted when i first had Elena and I remember it very well. big huge hugs.
thank you for sharing your story. I am glad you were able to deliver MM (I think I will be calling him that instead of EJ) the way you wanted.
Hope motherhood is treating you well. Whenever you are up to it, I would love to visit you and the LO.

Congratulations! I'm glad it worked out the way you wanted and that things are going well! Can't wait to see more pics!!!
Congrats! I'm glad you got to avoid a c-section. It sounds like you have a healthy guy on your hands!
Don't worry about supplementing - I know it's hard not to feel a little guilty (I did as well), but you've got a big guy on your hands and he needs to eat. I didn't pump that early - it's probably not necessary if you're trying to feed him every few hours (but do check with a lactation consultant).
The breastfeeding will get better. I found it hard early on as well and since then it's gotten much much better and easier. I thought I'd barely make it to 6 weeks, and now I'm ready to aim for 6 months.
