You may THINK that you and DH have the exact same cold, but you'd be wrong. Because he is a man, he will be incapable of doing anything except playing Zelda in his pajama pants and a wrinkled button-down work shirt and periodically turning around to gravely and sincerely inform you that he has "probably definitely broken one rib, maybe two" from "all the coughing."
The fact that you have been home with him all day and have heard him cough a total of THREE singular times has little bearing on the fact that he is slowly and painfully dying from this horrible wasting disease.
Poor DH. I hope he feels better soon, but I also get a little kick out of the fact that a teeny-tiny cold can make a big tough guy certain that he is on his deathbed. I went in to a MinuteClinic with him earlier today to make sure that he wouldn't fall over dead from the sniffles (he needed a vaccine there anyway) and the nurse practitioner was trying really, really hard not to laugh at him a little.
Re: Fact: Man Colds are worse than regular colds.
Are we married to the same man?
I've been really sick with a high fever and the thing I'm wishing for most is DH to please NOT get sick. It's one thing to be sick myself, but to deal with him sick while I'm sick and/or have a newborn is not something I want to go through right now.
So here I am with my thermometer, Tylenol, cough drops, and tissues saying "use the hand sanitizer" or "do you need some orange juice or some tea" or "take a vitamin"- ugh.
Oh yes, this is DH.
The Man Cold
Not in our house. I'm the biggest baby and DH will not let you know he's feeling sick unless he is so bad he's bedridden. I once went to work in a blizzard with the flu. He's crazy... lol.
Totally know what you mean. My DH actually is MORE babyish if his illness is LESS severe. When he had surgery last month, he would barely let me help him, refused to take his pain meds by the second day(doctor had given him a week's prescription), and didn't complain at all. However, when he has a minor cold, you would think he's on his deathbed.
That's actually how I can tell how sick he really is: if he's being a baby, I know it's not too serious.
Does your DH have a twin he doesn't know about?? H is such a wuss when it comes to being sick. The world is ending if he has a cold, yet my back pain and constipation due to pregnancy is minor to him. *sigh* Men...
You didn't know they get sicker than we do? Silly girl!
This is why we were chosen to have the children. The boys just couldn't handle it. Population would decline until we were extinct if they were in charge of childbearing.
